The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center provides outstanding Biomedical Research Cores. The HICCC houses 12 core facilities or shared resources that provide services essential to basic and translational cancer research, to which the applicant will have continued full access on a 24/7 basis.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to develop new statistical and machine learning methods for high-dimensional and longitudinal data. Scientific questions of interest are to explore the (causal) associations between omics data, clinical variables, and disease of interest, to identify important biomarkers, or to develop predictive models for disease outcomes.  Possible applications include clinical studies involving microbiome data, imaging data, EHR data, or single-cell RNA-Seq data. Responsibilities also include developing the associated software packages, assisting in the preparation of grant applications, and producing manuscripts for publication purposes. The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work closely with Dr. Jianhua Hu in the Department of Biostatistics and possibly other faculty in Biostatistics/Statistics.

 

Minimum Degree Required

  • Ph.D., MD, or equivalent doctoral degree

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent experimental and analytic skills and willingness to learn the new model system and methodologies
  • Effective communication and writing skills and record of publication in a peer-reviewed journal (s)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
