Job Description
 

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in Dr. Shiyou Chen’s laboratory in the Department of Surgery, University of Missouri School of Medicine. The research program will examine molecular mechanisms underlying the development of cardiovascular diseases with a focus on smooth muscle phenotypic modulation in vascular remodeling, atherosclerosis, or aortic aneurysm formation. The position is supported by the MU Research Excellence Postdoc Program (REP) which is aimed to support faculty and postdoctoral scholars to successfully pursue major external funding. In addition to the cutting-edge research, multiple professional development activities will be provided by the Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Education and the Research & Grant Development Specialist. The REP offers a competitive salary plus fringe benefits.


Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in biological sciences with experience/expertise in cardiovascular research as well as solid publications.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Candidates will be evaluated on: ability to work independently. candidates with experience in smooth muscle, endothelial cells, or macrophages with strong molecular and cell biology training. Experience with animal models such as artery injury, atherosclerosis, aortic aneurysm.
