We are looking for Senior team member for our Mouse Core (Post-Doctoral or Research Associate Scientist), that is an essential component of our Radiation Biodosimetry Program at the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in Manhattan, New York. This program is well funded and we have a large inter-disciplinary team of Biologists, Physicists, Biostatisticians and technicians, all working towards the common goal of developing biomarkers for individualized prediction of radiation injury.

The Mouse Core is central to all our in vivo studies for development of these biomarkers and works in close coordination with the scientific groups that are evaluating cytogenetic, transcriptomic and metabolomic markers using state-of-the-art technologies. This position would involve study design, overseeing and performing mouse colony maintenance, mouse irradiations, blood and tissue collection from animals, writing and maintaining protocols, and development and optimization of tests. You would also be responsible for blood immunophenotyping and data analysis, using a dedicated multi-color high-complexity Beckman-Coulter Flow Cytometry Cell Analyzer. You will work with the Program Project Leader and the other research teams, and present work progress through teleconferences and written reports. There will be ample opportunity for gaining recognition through shared authorship and innovations in biomarker testing.

The candidate should have at least 1 year of research experience in one or more of the above-mentioned research activities in a mouse model context.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Physiology/Cell Biology or a related field; expertise in mouse models, cellular biology, and cell-based assays. Applicants with a background in radiation biology or immunology are especially encouraged to apply.

Please be sure to include a statement of research interests, CV, and contact information for three references with application.

Application can be made through: http://pa334.peopleadmin.com/postings/3896
