Position Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the progress and success of all academic IT projects. Provides supervision and mentoring to other IT Project Coordinators. Supervises IT / Media staff and outside contractors that have been assigned to projects.
Ensures the success of a team of project coordinators working for Technology Support Services. Includes holding project status meetings and stakeholder meetings that may include external contractors. Build and ensure service level agreements are maintained for academic IT projects.
Holds regular meetings with the wider IT department, College facilities and Engineering departments and ensure their participation in IT projects where necessary. Attends meetings of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs meetings to ensure our stakeholders are involved in decision making and that communication plans are fit for purpose.
Works with the Director Technology Support Services to bid for annual techfee budgets. This includes techfee overtime, lifecycle hardware and software budgets. Be a participant in annual budget hearing meetings for techfee requests.
Ensures projects have a suitable project plan and communication plan. Evaluates user requirements against system features and identifies approaches to meet the requirements for effective and efficient solutions. Participates in the design, specification, and documentation of district-wide system architecture and special projects; proposes and develops standards and recommends specific hardware and system configurations. Participates in the procurement of said technology. Maintains a lessons learned register for future projects.
Records and renews software licenses for all desktop computer services districtwide. Coordinates communication and serves as liaison within user departments. Advises users and groups to ensure IT facets are incorporated into decisions
Analyzes problems and trend data to recommend, develop and implement permanent solutions and support strategies to conform to Service Level Agreements (SLA) objectives. Appropriately document issues and notify management for needs and priorities. Develops long-range strategies for deployment and support of emerging technologies that support computer labs and classrooms.
Develops detailed specifications to satisfy user requirements and assume effective utilization of departmental resources. Follows current documentation protocols, file maintenance and document release to authorized users.
Evaluates legal, procedural and policy changes related to system applications. Determines changes needed and their effects on other systems while assuming compliance and uninterrupted services
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or closely related discipline or equivalent work experience and education/training providing similar knowledge and skills.
Five (5) or more years of relevant full time experience beyond degree equivalence is required. Two (2) or more years of experience in IT Project Coordinator role.
Experience in current operating environment and use of specific programming/operating systems will be given preference.
Certification in Project Management, or systems and applications to be supported may be considered an equivalency for experience requirements.
