The project is on multi-omics dissection of genetic drivers of immune response and adaptation footprints in trypanosomiasis. The research is expected to substantially improve our scientific understanding of the association between animal genomics with tolerance or susceptibility in trypanosomiasis and practical application in a disease control program. As a member of the Thomas Lab, you will have access to advanced technologies, computational resources, and a collaborative research environment.  Salary and benefits are highly competitive, position is initially 2 years but can be extended up to 3 years, depending on performance and availability of funds.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include multi-omics dissection of genetic drivers of immune response and adaptation footprints in trypanosomiasis. The candidate should be able to utilize immunology, epigenetics, functional genomics and computational biology skills to characterize immune response between trypanotolerant and susceptible disease states, substantially improve our understanding of the association with animal genomics  and practical application in a disease control program. Application to an epigenetics climate change system is important. Additional responsibilities include management of the Thomas laboratory, including oversight with student projects, preparation of manuscripts to facilitate peer-reviewed publications, preparation of grants for submission to intra- and extramural funding agencies etc.
