The Ferraro lab in the Microbiology and Cell Science department is seeking a highly knowledgeable individual to join our team in a pivotal role focused on understanding the research and function of extracellular vesicles in host-pathogen interactions. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking project titled "The function of host-derived extracellular vesicles in trafficking bacterial antigens to stimulate the antibacterial immune response," which is funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Responsibilities:

Research the role of extracellular vesicles in immunity.
Design and execute experiments to study the trafficking of bacterial antigens via hostderived extracellular vesicles.
Analyze and characterize extracellular vesicles using advanced techniques.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to scientific publications.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field.
Document procedures, results, and findings accurately.

IFAS, one of the nation’s largest agricultural and natural resources research and education organizations, is administered by a Vice President and four deans: the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the Dean for Extension and Director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, the Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine.  UF/IFAS also engages in cooperative work with Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, or related fields.
Expertise in extracellular vesicles, host-pathogen interactions, or immunology.
Experience with cellular and molecular assays.
Experience in murine models.
Strong publication record in related research.
Independent, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills.
