Seattle Tennis and Education Foundation delivers tennis, mentorship, social/emotional learning, and enrichment programming in the Seattle area year round.

Overview:

The Manager, Tennis and Programs designs, plans and implements STEF’s Core After School Academy programs and curricula, assists with special events and program outreach, and has a strong role in mentorship and overall programming support functions. Candidates must be enthusiastic, caring and a positive role model for the youth in our program. Within this role, you will need to be comfortable communicating with families, educators, and partner organizations to coordinate a network of support for each STEF student-athlete. As an integral part of the STEF team, you must be motivated by the desire to nurture program success and the furthering of our mission to use the sport of tennis, mentorship, and educational enrichment to help under-resourced youth gain the confidence and skills to achieve their dreams. As Manager you will act as one of the main representatives at the current Magnuson Park location and interact with all STEF partners including Mercy Magnuson Housing, Sand Point Elementary, Solid Ground, Seattle Parks and Recreation, among others. You will report directly to the Managing Director.

This is a contract position, estimated at 15-20 hours each week. Hourly rate of pay is $22-$28.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervises all tennis play components, as well as off-court program elements
  • Promotes the lifestyle benefits of tennis and how physical fitness directly correlates to better educational outcomes
  • Responsible for creating educational enrichment activities that keep student-athletes engaged
  • Must be creative and flexible in creating lesson plans for tennis and enrichment activities
  • Participate in all meetings and complete all required paperwork; including but not limited to weekly team meetings, attendance, and student progress reports
  • Assists MD in managing, hiring, and training support staff and volunteers as needed
  • Support the program in events and activities that will be beneficial to the scholar athletes. These opportunities could include fundraisers, one-day youth programs, family events, and field trips
  • Works cooperatively with the MD to create an atmosphere of discovery, learning and a core program of physical fitness as part of STEF’s overall programming goals
  • Ensures a safe and welcoming environment for tennis play for all STEF participants
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the organization through reliable attendance, building strong connections with youth, and identifying improvements for the program
  • Ability and willingness to work with youth and families from diverse cultural, academic, and economic backgrounds
  • Other duties and growth opportunities depending on availability and desire

Job Requirements

  • Must complete Safeplay, Level 1 USTA Certification, and CPR training (Can be completed prior to starting position)
  • Tennis coaching or playing experience preferred, but all candidates will be considered (willing and able to learn the game)
  • Experience working with youth, preferable with those from marginalized communities
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite and Google G-Suite are essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Able to lead and foster relationships with STEF program partners, stakeholders, staff, students and families
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability to be on site for weekday programming (times vary between 2:15-6:15pm)

Compensation: $22-28 per hour
