**This position is scheduled to work Tuesday through Saturday.**

**The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $26.00 per hour depending on experience. Typically a Museum Educator will start at $22.00 per hour.**

Summary

The Museum Educator supports the mission of The Boeing Academy for STEM Learning (BASL) at The Museum of Flight by delivering high quality, innovative and inspiring informal educational programs to diverse audiences both within the Museum campus and at offsite locations. With a focus on aviation, flight, and STEM related programs, Museum Educators serve a wide variety of audiences, learners, and locations including onsite programs, school groups, outreach to community groups, out of school-time programs and other immersive experiences. In addition to facilitating and delivering educational programs, the Museum Educator may work with chaperones and volunteers as a point of contact and provide direction.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• A minimum of two years college experience in education, science, or museum related field of study; Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Will accept related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of one year experience in a formal or informal educational instructional environment, facilitating and/or assisting with facilitation of programming.
• Experience working with youth of all ages highly preferred.

 

 

Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of education standards and practices in teaching and learning that actively engages learners.
• Aviation, aerospace, and/or STEM related knowledge, a plus.

 

 

Skills

• Demonstrated facilitation skills that engage and inform audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and education levels.
• Displays good customer service skills and follow-through.
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows based computer environment including Microsoft Office suite.
• Possesses good communication skills through verbal, non-verbal, and written communication methods.

 

 

Abilities

• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including staff, students, teachers, parents, and volunteers.
• Willingness and ability to learn aviation concepts and history, as well as space and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) content.
• Willingness and ability to learn technology-based education programs.
• Innovative in practice, remains open to new ideas and is able and willing to make adjustments to technique as needed.

 

 

License & Certification

• Must have a current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• First Aid, CPR/AED certification, a plus

• Will be assigned a primary schedule upon hire, however requires flexibility including weekends, holidays, and evenings based on Museum needs.
• Occasional to frequent local travel is expected for this position.
• May be required to drive a utility van to offsite teaching locations.

Compensation
