Job Description

The Saunders College of Business, which is broadly positioned at the intersection of technology, innovation, and management, invites applications for one or more full-time, tenure-track assistant professor positions within the Department of Management Department.

Candidates that are close to completing or have competed their doctoral degree in innovation, management of innovation, strategy, or related areas are encouraged to apply. Assistant professors with prior experience will be considered. Teaching load is 2/2 for pre-tenure faculty and is either four or five following tenure depending on research productivity. Potential teaching responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate technology innovation, management of innovation, and strategy, courses.

Department/College Description
THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
The Saunders College of Business (SCB) is accredited by AACSB International and served by more than 65 full-time faculty members. SCB faculty greatly value collegiality and teamwork, as evidenced by the high level of collaboration within and across departments. SCB offers bachelors' degrees in Business Administration with nine different majors. Graduate programs include a newly launched Ph.D., an MBA, an Executive MBA, and Masters of Science in several disciplines. The college is on an upward trajectory with a 35,000 sq. ft. new building expansion scheduled to open in Fall/Spring 2023-24, as well as increasing program rankings and research productivity. Saunders is ranked in the top 100 by US News and World Report.

The Department of Management is the largest in the college with 22 faculty members; 16 tenured/TT and 6 lecturers. The department includes multiple disciplines: organizational behavior and leadership, global business, entrepreneurship, decision sciences, strategy, technology innovation and supply chain management. The Department of Management houses BS and MS programs in Global Business Management, Organizational Leadership and Innovation (online), Technology Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, and Supply Chain Management; some of these undergraduate and graduate programs are also offered at RITs campuses in China, Croatia, and Dubai. Additionally, the department houses the Ph.D. concentration in Strategy and Innovation on our main campus. Faculty members have published in leading journals, such as the Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Applied Psychology, Psychology Bulletin, Entrepreneurship, Theory, & Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Venturing and Journal of Product Innovation Management. The Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Institute for Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility provide support for teaching, research, and student activities.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or ABD in technology innovation, management of innovation, strategy, or related area from an AACSB or equivalently accredited university.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality publishable scholarship.
  • Potential for effective teaching in the area of management of technical innovation at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the Colleges continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
