Job Description:

The STEM and Business Division invites applications for anticipated vacancies to teach introductory Computer and Information Science courses for the Early College program beginning in the Fall 2022 semester. We anticipate openings in future semesters as well.

Early College courses have meeting times generally between 8am and 3pm at local High School sites in Boston's North Shore area. Other courses may be also be available including at the NSCC campuses in Lynn, MA and Danvers, MA depending on credentials and expertise.

The current openings are for CPS100 Information Technology and Its Applications.

Salary: Adjunct salaries are dependent upon the number of credit hours. This is a non-benefited, MCCC position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach courses as assigned by the Division Dean.
  • Prepare course syllabi, proctor and grade course assessments as scheduled, report final student grades, and complete student alerts by the specified dates each semester.
  • Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes
  • Attend required meetings which may be held virtually, at NSCC Campuses, or at high school sites.
  • Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.

 


Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or experience in a closely-related field with graduate-level credit in the subject area.
  • Evidence of successful Teaching experience in higher education or high school. Community college teaching experience preferred.
  • Evidence of commitment to and experience working with a diverse student body
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.

PREFERENCES

  • Community College teaching experience
  • Experience with Blackboard or similar Learning Management System
  • Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork
  • Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students and in responding to opportunities that extend the mission of the College
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
