The Opportunity

The School of Social Work in the College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for one 12-month, non-tenure-earning instructor position. The position will have primary assignment in Field Education in the BSW and MSW programs and serve as the school's coordinator of field education. The position is assigned to the main Orlando campus with a projected start date of Fall 2023.

This selected candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, manage student placements at fieldwork sites, and monitor student progress in their fieldwork. The candidate will also coordinate with the school director to manage teaching assignments for field seminars, coordinate with faculty to ensure that all students receive fieldwork placements, intervene and assist with resolving fieldwork-related problems, participate as a member of the school's leadership team, consult with the school director about fieldwork topics, and manage the BSW and MSW programs’ fieldwork programs to ensure compliance with all accreditation and university requirements, including authoring accreditation documents related to the School's fieldwork programs and outcomes.

The School of Social Work is recognized regionally and nationally for the superior quality of its educational offerings and its contributions to clinical social work, health care, scholarship, and service to our community. The school has 34 full-time faculty, 14 staff, numerous adjunct faculty, and over 900 students. We offer a BSW, a MSW, and a Social Work track in the Interdisciplinary Public Affairs Ph.D. program. There are various face-to-face and online tracks in the MSW program.  

CHPS is home to three schools, one department, and six centers and institutes and is a leader in creating positive community change by building partnerships that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries. The college is a core member of the newly formed UCF Academic Health Sciences Center along with the existing Colleges of Nursing and Medicine. We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate effective engagement in an environment where colleagues and students come from many backgrounds and identities, as well as someone who can demonstrate commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching practices.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program.

  • Minimum experience of 2 years with social work field education at an accredited school of social work.

  • Experience teaching at the university level.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Two years of post MSW social work practice experience.

  • Teaching experience across campus-based and online modalities.

  • Knowledge of fieldwork requirements for social work professional accreditation.

  • Experience leading professional teams.

  • Ability to collaborate with faculty.

  • Knowledge of social work agencies and organizations throughout Central Florida.
