Job Description:

The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor within the area of Virology. Our faculty include some of the brightest and most innovative scholars spanning virology and genetics disciplines. The Department has begun a major expansion of the faculty as part of a 5-year strategic plan (see accompanying ad for geneticist). UF has 70 virology research laboratories situated across seven colleges and institutes who are supported by state-of-the-art resources and centers in immunology. vector biology, metabolomics, and oncogenesis. UF is also developing a world-class artificial intelligence (AI) research infrastructure to support investigators. Research spans many virus families, with existing strengths in arboviruses, tumor viruses, polymicrobial interactions, and neurovirology. We are particularly interested in recruiting candidates who will build a research program that complements these existing strengths.

The successful candidate will be expected to promote and contribute to these core values, develop a vibrant, externally funded research program, participate in graduate-level teaching, and recruit and mentor outstanding trainees. 

A highly competitive start-up package is available.

Expected Salary:

$110,000 - $120,000 and starting salary range is annually and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

PhD, MD or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences or a related field of study.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and 3+ years of postdoctoral experience; a demonstrated ability to conduct original, innovative virology research.
