Research Associate in Cancer Systems Biology

Job Description

The Fallahi-Sichani Laboratory at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville is seeking highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral research associate position to lead a multidisciplinary cancer systems biology project in the lab.

The focus of the NIH-funded project will be to explore the interplay between genetic, epigenetic and signaling mechanisms that determine heterogeneity in responsiveness of tumor cells to targeted inhibition of oncogenic pathways. By studying these mechanisms, we hope to identify predictive markers of therapeutic response, and develop new strategies to overcome heterogeneous populations of drug-resistant tumor cells. Our studies involve techniques in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, fluorescence microscopy, single-cell analysis, genomics, epigenomics, and data-driven computational modeling. Candidates with strong background in molecular and cellular biology (or a related discipline) and interest in learning computational methods are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with bioengineering or systems biology background and previous wet-lab experience are also strongly encouraged to apply.

The Fallahi-Sichani Lab works at the interface of bioengineering, cancer biology and quantitative pharmacology. Research in the lab is built on our multi-disciplinary experience in systems biology, quantitative pharmacology, and single-cell measurement and analysis, and benefits from active collaboration with leaders in clinical oncology, epigenetics, and proteomics research. Members of our laboratory work in a highly collaborative research environment. Our goal is to motivate and train fellows across disciplines to address new and challenging problems in cancer biology and therapy.
