Job Responsibilities:

The Postdoctoral Research Assistant will assist in conceptualizing, planning, and execution of innovative research projects using appropriate statistical analyses. The research will be oriented toward the goal of improving oral health and oral health care delivery and will largely consist of survey design and administration, statistical analysis of secondary data sources such as NHANES or electronic health records, or qualitative analysis. Some of the expected research methods include psychometric analytical techniques, longitudinal data, and repeated measures analysis, addressing missing data issues, experimental design, survey design, (non-) linear mixed models, predictive modeling, multivariate statistics, non-parametric analysis, Bayesian statistics, and the preparation and analysis of electronic health records or insurance claims. Research results will be expected to be disseminated via publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or presentations.

Funding for this position is completely supported for 2 years. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require new sponsorship for employment.

Must-Have:

  • Doctoral Level degree in health, behavioral, or social science (for example epidemiology, community health sciences, public health, biostatistics, health policy, health informatics)
  • Experience in the analysis and interpretation of research data
  • Capable of reviewing the applicable scientific literature to guide research design and manuscript writing
  • Proficient in at least one of the following statistical computer software packages: SAS, Stata, R.
  • Ability to plan or provide critical feedback on scientific research projects
  • Collaborative mindset; open to various viewpoints
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Comfortable working independently, motivated to take on new challenges, and efficient project planning and scheduling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Weekend work/meetings
  • Attend/give a presentation at scientific conferences (overnight) once or twice a year

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with oral health research, dental terminology, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis, clinical care guidelines
  • Experience with analysis of electronic health records or insurance claims data, or conducting survey research
  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Data visualization.
