The Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology supports the vision and goals of USF Health and the College of Medicine. The department consists of 30 faculty members, numerous postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, scientific/research staff, and a team of administrative staff. MPP is largely funded by the National Institutes of Health, with additional funding coming from the Department of Defense, American Heart Associations and other sponsors. Our researchers have expertise in systems physiology, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory dysfunction, metabolic/kidney disease, neurophysiology and neurodegenerative disorders. The goal of our research programs is to translate studies that decipher mechanisms of diseases or discover novel diagnostic/therapeutic targets into improved health care.
Position Summary:
This position coordinates various human resource functions, and provides administrative support for the department. The Unit HR Coordinator provides assistance, guidance, and follow-up to internal stakeholders regarding recruitment efforts, appointment processing, human resource issues, payroll and attendance and leave. This position will assist with implementing USF HR programs, policies and procedures defined by central administration and serve as a liaison to the USF Health and university's centralized human resources office.
Responsibilities:

  • Submits and processes payroll by coordinating bi-weekly payroll, collecting timesheets, updating pay distribution and acting as the contact for inquiries and issues related to payroll. Monitors pay and develops reports for department fiscal team. Performs bi-weekly RSA (remaining spending authority) checks for budget errors in payroll.
  • Coordinates the recruitment process for individual labs in department. Supports appointment process by preparing all HR paperwork/forms in liaison with USF Health HR and USF Health Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs. Supports department with submitting classification requests, submitting job posting requests, extension of appointments, change of supervisor and other ad hoc appointment changes. Heavy volume of international scholars and coordination with the USF International Services office, as as well as the USF Health Graduate Affairs office.
  • Coordinates the attendance and leave tracking process, including the maintenance of leave records, processing quarterly and year end leave balance reports, and auditing leave balances for payout. Coordinates yearly evaluation process for all laboratory research staff on full-time positions.
  • Submits and tracks key requests and swipe card access for all employees in department.
  • Responsible for review of FAR/FAIR reporting and coordination with faculty in department to complete and certify their annual report.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Department Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum: 

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field and one year of human resources experience. Four years of related human resources experience in office or administrative positions can substitute for the degree.
Preferred: 

Experience processing payroll, leave audit, and coordination of recruitment within a large department or unit.
