Summary

The Child Care Action Council (CCAC) is a non-profit agency whose mission is to promote and nurture early learning communities where families and children thrive. We have programs to support both childcare providers and families. At a local, regional, and state level, our staff collaborate with a diverse group of individuals and organizations working on behalf of and in partnership with children and their families. We're looking for an administrator for our training program. The training program provides online and in-person classes, on a wide range of early learning topics, for those who work in licensed childcare facilities. This manager serves on the CCAC leadership team; supervises 5-6 trainers; monitors the training budget; reports to funders; guides any expansion of the program; and oversees all of the program components. The manager may also design and teach classes. Due to the responsibilities of this position, some Olympia in-office days are required every week.

This administrator also supervises our infant and toddler coaching services. Some of our trainers are also infant toddler coaches. (Supervision of infant toddler coaching comprises less than 10% of this position.)


Duties

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee training program
  • Champion the goal of providing high quality, consistent, culturally responsive, and effective classes
  • Work with trainers to plan annual and quarterly training schedules
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of individual classes and the overall program
  • Help facilitate seamless coordination between agency training and coaching service
  • Earn and maintain state-approved trainer status
  • Design and teach classes, as needed to support the training schedule
  • Cooperate, negotiate, and contract with childcare centers seeking training
  • Ensure compliance with all contract requirements
  • Approve the purchase of program supplies, in accordance with the budget
  • Represent CCAC to the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and other partners at community and state-level meetings

    STAFFING
  • Supervise 5-6 trainers, some of which are also coaches
  • Support new trainers through the state-approved trainer process
  • Observe and evaluate CCAC trainers
  • Support training and infant toddler coaching staff through reflective supervision, learning cohorts, staff meetings, etc.

    MARKETING
  • Develop class titles and descriptions
  • Work closely with development and marketing staff to advertise classes
  • Create flyers and other materials to promote infant toddler coaching services

    REPORTING/DATA
  • Complete reporting for contracts
  • Monitor class registration and evaluation data

    Requirements

    Our ideal candidate is someone who has experience working with young children and experience teaching or coaching adults in a way that meets the needs of diverse adult learners. We hope to find someone who understands the childcare workforce and has a heart for supporting that workforce (both childcare providers and trainers.) Our ideal candidate is good at relationship-building: with staff, class participants, and partner organizations. Finally, our ideal candidate is very organized and able to track information and meet deadlines pertaining to contracts.

    Qualifications:
  • BA in early learning or a closely related field
  • Experience teaching others about early childhood in a coaching or training environment
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Experience with online teaching platforms
  • Experience managing successful projects and/or programs
  • Experience working with culturally diverse groups
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word and PowerPoint
  • You must have the ability to work occasional night and weekend hours
  • You must successfully pass a thorough background check
  • You must hold a current, valid driver's license and have reliable personal transportation and vehicle liability insurance
  • We require a COVID-19 vaccination or CCAC-approved exemption
