Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Life, the Program Coordinator – Kodiak Cave (mid-August to June annually) will support the Kodiak Cave, Cascadia's food resource center on campus. This program includes coordinating a food pantry, cooking and meal planning education, offering hygiene products and providing information about additional community resources to students. This position will train and direct the work of student staff, monitor the budget allocated for the space and manage relationships with campus and community partners.



 

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills



Kodiak Cave Support  

  • Answer and respond to telephone calls, messages and electronic inquiries in a timely manner
  • Maintain inventory in the Kodiak Cave, including restocking as needed
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student information
  • Resolve customer service issues
  • Create and update policies and procedures for use of the Kodiak Cave services
  • Update and implement assessment tools to determine success and efficiency of resources
  • Perform clerical/administrative duties
  • Train, schedule and direct the work of student employees
  • Monitors program activities in relation to established program goals; within established program parameters, determines variances from program standards
  • Cover shifts of student employees if needed
  • Design and update marketing materials, including brochures, posters and webpages
  • Copy, scan, fax and email documents

Community and Campus Support  
  • Work with campus and community partners to collect and process donations (financial and physical)
  • Maintain pop up food pantry spaces on campus (The Center, VRC, etc.)
  • Maintain communication and collaborate as appropriate with the Health and Wellness Resource Center (HaWRC)
  • Meet regularly with the Cascadia Student Government Director of Health & Sustainability to ensure students are being surveyed, that resources are meeting their needs and to collaborate on programs
  • Create and implement community service/engagement fairs twice per year in partnership with Assistant Director of Student Life
  • Participate in committees, professional development opportunities, and team- and college-wide meetings as appropriate

Other Related Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the program in achieving its service objectives.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Two years of experience with food pantry/food insecurity resources
  • Demonstrated commitment to and interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to support a multicultural workplace and educational environment
  • Access to reliable transportation for the purpose of restocking the food pantry
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An Associate's degree
  • Strong computer knowledge with the ability to navigate through Microsoft Office applications
  • Student or volunteer supervision experience
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, determine priorities and monitor budgets

 

Supplemental information


Terms of Employment:
This is a Full-Time, 10-Month Cyclic Project Classified position. This position works 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday with occasional evening responsibilities, mid-August through June annually. This position is a project position dependent on annual local funding. The position is allocated to pay Range 38 under the Washington State Department of Personnel Higher Education Salary Schedule. Initial salary placement is between the ranges of $2,912.00 - $3,272.00 per month, with yearly step increases to the maximum salary of $3,774.00 per month. This is a represented position.
 
Following a successful probationary/trial service period, employees attain permanent status. Cascadia College offers a comprehensive benefit package including tuition fee waiver.


Physical Work Environment:
Sedentary Work: Involves staying in a stationary position to a significant degree. Jobs are sedentary if moving is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Work is primarily performed at the Cascadia College campus, in an office environment and requires standing and/or sitting and using computers for extended periods of time.
 
Position in this class typically require operating a computer and telephone, communicating, observing and repetitive motions.
 
Exerting between 10-30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to transport, put, install, remove, or otherwise move objects.
