JOB SUMMARY:

The Activities Coordinator will work with the Family Services Division Director in developing, implementing and providing guidance to support services emphasizing individualized resource support and facilitated peer parent interactions for urban Indian fathers, as well as, community based traditional medicine programming based on the needs of and input from the urban indigenous community. The coordinator is responsible for communicating with clients, scheduling meetings and events and has an active role in co-teaching a range of parental skills, as well as supporting the Family Services Division with data collection, work on special projects and community outreach.

The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, collaborative, and maintains an elevated level of attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • With the Family Services Division Director’s guidance, coordinate traditional medicines classes, fatherhood-related training and support, monthly support groups, outings, and other events for the community. Facilitating planned discussions, and coordinating guest speakers needed for continuous client education and improvement.
  • Coordinate monthly foster parent training and culture night at Daybreak star cultural center
  • Regularly communicate with other UIATF programs on upcoming activities.
  • Establish connections between clients and providers (both internal and external) to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Recruit participants by creating program flyers, posters and other promotional materials.
  • Documenting and providing information for reporting purposes regarding program expenditures, client numbers, attendance and progress with support from Family Services Director.
  • Maintain all program records, contracts, policies and training material in an organized and confidential system.
  • Collaborate with Director in program evaluation, performance measurement reporting, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain paperwork (contracts, check requests, receipts, etc.) for all program activities and provide them as needed to Accounting.
  • Participate in traditional medicines/fatherhood/parenting/family support partnerships, coalitions and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with divisional practices, values, and standards (cultural relevancy and cultural sensitivity).
  • Ensure all activities are guided by community input and are culturally grounded in authentic, Native teachings with guidance from community experts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate program information is provided and posted to UIATF websites and social media, as well as, directly to staff and clients via in-person, phone, email, text or other written correspondence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of and experience with the Indigenous community are essential for success.
  • Minimum Three years’ successful activities coordinator experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel and Word, social media platforms.
  • Case Management
  • Background check required.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to various work sites.
  • Adult educator experience and/or certification preferred.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, and attend events outside of typical work hours.

  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Experience collaborating with a variety of staff.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Drive to constantly improve services provided and programming that will help Indigenous communities.
  • Passion for and commitment to the mission of United Indians of All Tribes Foundation.
  • Adept at working cross-culturally with Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.
  • Knowledge of the strengths and challenges facing the American Indian / Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander communities.
  • Have the skill to work independently, maintain a consistent schedule and maintain regular contact/coordination with division director.
  • Aptitude for solving problems with creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with UIATF staff, clients, and community partners.

When visiting client homes, driving to the office, and driving to outreach and group connection events, the employee may be exposed to a range of King County weather conditions and changing noise levels. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
