Job Description

Assistant Professor or Faculty of the Practice:
 
The College of Business (COB) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide (ERAU-W) is seeking an Accounting Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Faculty of the Practice (FOTP) to join the COB and Department of Business Administration (DBA).
 
This is a remote position and will require an at home office. The successful candidate, if appointed as an assistant professor will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate accounting courses. FOTP faculty will teach undergraduate accounting courses and potentially could teach graduate accounting courses. The typical teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year which extends from 1 August to 31 May. Faculty will teach with innovative academic technologies and delivery platforms almost entirely online. Courses reside within the College of Business and have a strong business focus and apply business concepts to aviation and other industries.
 
Faculty will have a strong commitment to teaching, remaining current in the profession, and service to the department, college, university, and profession. Candidates appointed assistant professor will be expected to contribute to research in the accounting field. The successful candidate will also develop, maintain, and assess courses. Additionally, the candidate will update accounting curricula as needed and assigned. Faculty must be willing to travel to attend meetings and conferences although travel is limited.

The Worldwide College of Business offers two Associate’s Degrees (Aviation Business Administration and Technical Management), six bachelor’s degrees (Aviation Business Administration, Business Analytics, Leadership, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Project Management and Technical Management), and eight master’s degrees (Business Administration in Aviation, Engineering Management, Information Security & Assurance, Leadership, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Management, Management Information Systems, and Project Management)
 
Departments in the COB are Business Administration, Decision Sciences, and Management & Technology. The successful candidate would be assigned to the Department of Business Administration (DBA). The DBA houses the Associates in Aviation Business, Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business Administration, and the Masters in Business Administration in Aviation. A mixture of undergraduate minors, majors, and graduate certificates are also managed by the DBA.
 
Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field from a regionally accredited university for the Assistant Professor position. Candidates with a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university in business administration, accounting, or a related field, and a current CPA license may be considered for the Faculty of the Practice Position.
  • Teaching experience in accounting or related fields.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • A clearly defined teaching philosophy.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and mentor students from diverse backgrounds in a remote setting.
  • Willing to travel as necessary for the position (approximately 5-10%).
  • Experience in course design and development for online course delivery is preferred.
  • Experience with online learning management systems is preferred.
  • A record of scholarly research and publication, or a demonstrated research pipeline for the Assistant Professor position.
