Takes leadership role in independently managing and developing a large research program of high visibility that aims to understand Hispanic/Latinos willingness to consent to autopsy for Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias research. Develops vision and establishes agenda to achieve research objectives. Oversees all elements of program administration. Collaborates across multiple research groups (e.g., SOL-INCA and UCSD’s Shilley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, UCSF’s Brain Health Registry). Provides leadership in identifying outreach services to the community to aid in increasing Latino representation in research. With faculty and mentors formulates research strategies and goals, directs long-term planning, and develops procedures to increase brain donation consent among Latinos. Defines and implements publications in support of the overall research program. Is considered a subject matter expert of the organization and is internationally recognized expert in the field.

  • Advanced degree in ( Ph.D. in Health Psychology) related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Terminal degree in a related field (PhD, JD, MD, etc.).

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience.

  • Four years postdoctoral fellowship in Neurosciences preferred.

  • Academic background and recognized expertise in selected area of research.

  • Demonstrated expertise with program building within a leading academic institution for handling administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.

  • Expert oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise building collaborations between academia, industrial and / or governmental agencies.

  • Leadership experience in academic and / or government agencies.

  • Expert ability to work with dynamic and diverse group of faculty, staff and students.

  • Expert fundraising experience.

  • Expert negotiation skills.

  • Experience and understanding of Hispanic/Latinos willingness to consent to autopsy for Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias research.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $87,000 - $202,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $41.67 - $97.03

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
