Position Description
 
Introduction:

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Radar Systems Engineer.

Job Summary: 

Participate in a team environment to develop and analyze advanced Radar systems for Navy Air and Missile Defense applications.


Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
  1. Lead or perform analyses addressing a wide range of advanced radar development and system engineering issues including performance assessment, requirements development, architecture development, signal processing algorithm development and subsystem definition. (50%) 
  2. Provide subject matter expertise to interface with radar contractors responsible for the implementation and integration of advanced radars. (25%)
  3. Participate in a team environment to develop new advanced radar concepts and techniques. (25%)

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least five years advanced radar development experience, including demonstrated ability to work over a broad range of radar systems engineering tasks. Ability to carry out analyses independently.  Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
 
 
Desired Qualifications:
PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.  Eight years advanced radar development experience, including experience with advanced multi-function phased array based radar systems and/or digital array radars. 
 
Special Working Conditions:
Some local and domestic travel to government sponsors, national laboratories and contractor facilities is required.
