ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
As a member of the Facilities Staff, this position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all College facilities as well as repair and maintenance of equipment and tools.
THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED AS ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL.
1.Performs inspection of the building equipment and discusses preventive maintenance with immediate supervisor. Direction for maintenance will be a team decision and must be discussed before maintenance is begun unless the situation is emergent.
2.Completes carpentry projects as assigned.
3.Monitors supplies to ensure sufficient inventory necessary for any of the assigned maintenance projects. Apprises supervisor when ordering is necessary for any of the above materials.
4.Assists with the removal of snow and ice from the walks and entrances when necessary.
5.Cooperates with the other team members to harmoniously achieve the purposes of the facility.
6.Assumes responsibility for the oversight of the opening the building each school day when designated by appropriate managerial personnel.
7.Checks security and safety in building during working hours.
8.Observes and informs supervisor of safety hazards, equipment and/or operational problems pertaining to any equipment or material in the facility, etc.
9.Assists in recycling program.
10.Moves furniture or equipment when necessary.
11.Performs landscaping, weed removal and grass cutting (on as needed basis on campus).
12.Complies with all health and safety codes and standards.
13.Coordinates and participates in all maintenance projects throughout the campus.
14.Performs floor care throughout the building(s).
15.Provides team assistance on any project within the Facilities and/or Custodial Department that requires immediate or emergent completion (i.e. set-up or break-down of equipment, demolition, planting, floor care, etc.).
16.Performs other duties as assigned.
1.Knowledge of commercial or industrial buildings and utility systems.
2.Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.
3.Ability to move heavy equipment and materials.
4.Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
5.Ability to work flexible hours. In addition to regular schedule, this position will be part of a rotational on-call team.
6.Position is considered essential and may require working evening and/or weekend hours, when necessary.
7.Ability to diagnose problems, determine labor and materials needed and solve problems.
8.Basic knowledge of painting procedures.
9.Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others.
10.Able to take direction and educational input positively for immediate supervisors.
11.Ability to work independently.
·High School graduate or equivalent.
·Experience in custodial and basic maintenance in commercial/institutional setting.
·Experience operating custodial equipment and proper handling of chemicals.
