We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to join our rapidly growing biotech company and to make a meaningful impact on scientific research around the world.

The Business Development Scientist will play a key role in driving MiTeGen’s continued growth as a leading supplier for crystallography and cryo-EM. This position will involve business development, customer support, marketing, and product development.

Major responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting customers and sales activities via technical application consulting

  • Developing and nurturing relationships leading to the sale of scientific instruments

  • Assisting customers in planning, coordinating, and executing experiments at our user facility

  • Providing customer training and support

  • Generating technical application notes and marketing materials

  • Aiding in the development and testing of new technologies

  • Assisting in the generation of SBIR and other proposals to support product development

  • Presentation of technologies and scientific results at meetings and conferences

The role of Business Development Scientist at MiTeGen will be best filled by an individual with a detailed understanding of the current challenges in structural biology. They must enjoy helping scientific researchers find solutions, be able to think creatively, and be driven to make an impact on both the company and the science of our customers.

Essential skills and attributes include:

S. or PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics or similar

significant experience in biomolecular structure determination using X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM and/or SAXS

  • Effective in written and verbal communication

  • Enjoys interacting with and providing solutions to researchers

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully handle a broad range of responsibilities

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions. The Business Development Scientist must be able to efficiently perform general office tasks such as working at a computer and telephone, etc.

Interpersonal Temperament

The Business Development Scientist must be able to communicate very effectively and efficiently in English, verbally in person and over the phone, and in written form. They must be able to convert verbal discussions into accurate and professional written documentation. They must be able to speak in a professional manner to colleagues and customers, both individually and in small groups. They must be able to articulate complex ideas and concepts related to products and processes.

Work Environment

The Business Development Scientist will work in and contribute to maintaining a clean, orderly, safe and positive working atmosphere. Typical office-like conditions apply throughout the facility.
