Responsibilities*

  • Receive and assist patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Monitor waiting area activity and assure a clean, organized, and safe environment.
  • Support patients and families by proving information and/or other needs as requested.
  • Process and compile patient paperwork/tablet for exams
  • Answer/ accurately record any phone messages and assure they are triaged to appropriate location.
  • Accurately schedule and reschedule exams for patients.
  • Facilitate and communicate pre-arrival functions through confirmation calls and other correspondence.
  • Serve as a resource for physicians and other staff, patients, and outside third parties for insurance authorizations and other managed care related issues.
  • Respond to patient’s inquiries related to insurance plans directing as appropriate.
  • Assist patients with payment questions and/or facilitate billing collections process by credit card transactions.
  • Utilize paging system to contact appropriate staff as required.
  • Demonstrate ability to complete multiple tasks independently.
  • Identify and track reoccurring operational problems and participate in resolution.
  • Participate in creating efficient patient flow coordinating with nursing, technical staff and faculty.
  • Required to have knowledge and adhere to University and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Train and cover across different modalities and various sites within the Radiology Department
  • Works a dynamic schedule, could cover days and/or afternoons, 7 days/week.
  • Hours can change suddenly due to coverage, as needed.
  • Serve as chaperone/screening coverage as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Flexible schedule

Desired Qualifications*

  • Working knowledge of MiChart(Radiant), SECTRA, and PACS cube.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Preference given to those with Radiology background.

Work Schedule

TBD- Variable weekends along with working Days/Afterrnoons

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
