Essential Job Duties

The Performance Consultant is an essential member of the Campus Enterprises’ Human Resources team by providing solid guidance to supervisors and employees on performance and/or conduct matters and works to build a successful employee retention program and a positive workplace culture that all employees desire to be a part of.

The position administers the day-to-day operations of the performance management and employee relations processes, coordinates the employee recognition and appreciation program, co-leads the employee engagement interview program, and helps coordinate the training programs for the division.

The Performance Consultant will partner with the HR Manager and division leadership to make recommendations across cross-functional HR areas that align with the goals of the division and the needs of the department while following HR best practices. This position will work closely with members of the University Human Resources team and other business partners, and serve as a liaison to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. The Performance Consultant will offer recommendations to Campus Enterprise HR Manager regarding necessary training, new or revised procedures, and/or initiatives to future accentuate a positive work environment.

Other Responsibilities

  • Model the Division’s mission and values, introduce the Division’s mission and values to the employees, and foster a positive, cohesive workplace, and congeniality among co-workers;
  • Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and understand how employees’ work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture;
  • May serve on division or university committees, including search committees;
  • Assist with various HR-related projects/assignments/tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure Human Resources business needs are met.

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree and two years of progressively responsible professional human resources management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and best human resources practices and methods;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally, courteously, and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, staff, leadership, and campus partners;
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships and be a member of a productive team;
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Superior organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously along with exceptional judgment and discretion;
  • Problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy;
  • HRIS and/or performance management or training systems experience;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office or Google platform software;
  • Experience using Google mail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM, HRCI, or related HR Certification(s);
  • Experience in human resources, with experience in performance management and employee relations, employee recognition and appreciation programs, and employee retention initiatives;
  • Experience working within the University of North Carolina system or higher education.
