Job Description

Summary:

Gilead Sciences is a world leader in antiviral research having developed small molecule compounds that have revolutionized the treatment of HIV, HCV, and HBV. Over the last 5 years, Gilead has significantly broadened its scope to encompass unmet medical needs in oncology, inflammatory and chronic fibrotic diseases.

Responsibilities:

Dr. Wenjun Ouyang's lab is looking for a highly motived and accomplished Ph.D. scientist to join the group as a postdoc to study T cell function, regulation, subset and differentiation in autoimmune diseases and cancer immunotherapy. We are interested in understanding how TCR and antigen specificity dictate the outcomes in cancer and autoimmune models. The project will be involved in identification of antigen specificity of different T cell subsets including Treg, CD4 and CD8 effector and memory subsets base on scRNAseq. We will also use in vitro CRISPR screens and various KO/KI mouse lines to dissect the factors that drive the differentiation and development of these antigen specific T cells in disease and cancer models and understand how different T cell subsets impact the pathogenesis and therapeutic outcomes.

  • The candidate will collaborate with other scientists to utilize different cutting-edge tools to advance the projects.
  • The candidate should be able to independently design and execute experiments, interpret and present the experimental results, and resolve various challenges with new ideas and technologies.
  • Prior research experience in T cell biology, CRISPR screening, or in vivo disease models is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a PhD in immunology, molecular biology, or cell biology.
  • A strong technical background in T cell biology, molecular biology, or in vivo autoimmune disease and cancer models is desired.
  • The candidate must demonstrate critical analytical skill and ability to lead independent hypothesis-driven biological research, as exemplified by high quality publications.
  • Strong communication skills required, with an ability to communicate and scientifically engage individuals across a large breadth of levels and translate ideas and data into concise written and verbal communications.

The salary range for this position is: $120,445.00 - $155,870.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
