Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. All Purchase Orders must be reviewed and accounted for damages, and accuracy.
2. Ensures that policies and procedures are followed.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Observes and ensures all safety procedures and rules are in compliance with governing authorities.
2. Receives shipments including supplies, materials, furniture and equipment. Ensures that all shipments are accounted for.
3.Accesses Purchase Orders enters quantities received, prints receiving reports and forwards the information to the accounting departments.
4. Receives and distributes packages delivered by mail carriers, including express mail.
5. Assists with the delivery of books and envelopes to departments using Pitney- Bowes scanner. 
6. Delivers shipments to requesting departments at the Main and South campus.
7. Perform all necessary physical duties that the job may require.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by Central & Receiving Supervisor.

Position Reports To

Central Receiving Supervisor

Required Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year experience in shipping and receiving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates Degree in Applied Science with emphasis in computer operations, business, and/or accounting. Experience and knowledge of shipping and receiving environment; at a community.

Certificates/Licenses and Skills

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Be skilled in the use of personal computer with working knowledge of computerized operating system. (i.e. MS Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Power point and Banner. Maintain a positive attitude toward college departments, employees and students. Perform assignments with a high degree of accuracy and adhere to deadlines. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to follow departmental policies and procedures.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Supervision Exercised

May supervise Work-Study students, ensures that Work-Study students follow College, City, State and Federal requirements and standards as required.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a standard office environment. Work-inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.


Required to work safely and follow safety rules. 
Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. 
Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

Special Conditions

Immediate Supervisor may assign other duties. May be required to work outside regular working hours, as needed. May be required to work at a different college work site or campus as needed.
