Tutor Counselor 

Description/Job Summary

Overview of Position:

  • Attend all required pre-and- in service training sessions and staff meetings.

  • Reside on campus with students during the week in order to provide live-in supervision.

  • Plan and supervise dorm activities 

  • Tutor students during evening study sessions 

  • Actively monitor student behavior and performance 

  • Supervise field trips and group activities 

  • Represent the BCCC Upward Bound Math and Science program in a positive manner to students, employees and visitors.

  • Assist instructors in classroom during academic sessions 

  • Make appropriate referrals to Dorm Coordinator and Administrative Staff 

** The summer program begins on June 22nd and ends on August 2nd. Students and residential staff will be residing on the campus of Towson University for first five weeks. Everyone will be returning to BCCC - Liberty Campus for the final week - July 29th - August 2nd.**

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Upper classman (Junior or Senior) with a 3.0 gpa or higher 

  • Must be enthusiastic attitude 

  • Have a positive attitude 

  • Must be a self starter and have the ability to function under limited supervision

  • Must have the ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise good judgement when making decisions

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree 

  • Experience in Tutoring 

  • Supervisory experience
