Summary

The Division of Hospital Medicine seeks a full-time Project Manager to work in close collaboration with a principal investigator (PI) and other research staff. The PM will work on both research and quality improvement projects focused on patients with sepsis and other acute illnesses requiring hospitalization. The Project Manager will support the PI and study team in conducting research projects and preparing grant applications and may periodically be tasked with the coordination of clinical operations quality improvement projects, if bandwidth allows.

Responsibilities*

The candidate will coordinate carrying out research and quality improvement, including but not limited to the following tasks:

?         Project Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of various health services research projects
  • Oversee all aspects of various pragmatic healthcare delivery and implementation projects
  • Delegate project tasks to other staff members based on skill sets
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Schedule and attend research team meetings
  • Assist with manuscripts, posters, and PowerPoint slide preparation for talks
  • Perform data quality control
  • Recruit participants for interviews and surveys by telephone and email

?         Personnel Management:

  • Recruit, interview, and train all staff members based on project needs and budget
  • Ensure training modules for research team are current and assign training modules as needed including PEERRS, IATA, HIPAA, CITI/GCP
  • Inform staff of training opportunities and assist with orientation records onboarding

?         Administration:

  • Regulatory responsibilities such as Institutional Review Board applications, Data Use Agreements, and human subjects compliance
  • Assist with post-award reporting and reconciliation, including to draft and manage project reports for funding sponsors, maintain project records, and other administrative duties
  • Assist with preparation of grant applications (e.g., copy editing, proofreading, and creation of tables/figures and references)

Required Qualifications*

  •          Bachelors degree in related field with 2-4 years related experience or Master's degree in Public Health (MPH, MS, or equivalent) or a related field (e.g. Social Sciences, Biostatistics).
  •          Research administration experience and/or skills including IRB applications or federal grant reporting.
  •          Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  •          Must be an active team player who is able to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
  •          Ability to delegate tasks and manage personnel.
  •          Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  •          Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office suite.

Desired Qualifications*

  •         A masters degree in public health, social sciences, or other relevant focus desired.
  •         Experience in developing and executing research, quality improvement, or evaluation programs is preferred.
  •         Academic or professional experience in working with marginalized populations and/or sensitive health issues is strongly desired.
  •         Experience with data management or performing survey research
  •         Experience with REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) or other database collection tools

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
