Job Summary:
Are you an outgoing, upbeat personality with a knack for making people feel welcome and included? Do you like to plan, organize and coordinate activities that capture the attention of the audience? If this describes your talent and experience, then Kalamazoo Valley Community College may have the perfect role for you!

We are seeking a full-time, Coordinator for Student Onboarding and Organizations that will serve as the lead organizer and contact for Welcome Tables, Student Orientation, and Spirit Day events, as well as provide support to student clubs and organizations.

Characteristic duties and responsibilities:
  • Ensure leadership over the operation of Welcome Tables, Orientations and other events.
  • Provide direct support to student clubs and organizations.
  • Support the Student Development Services team with special activities and open houses.
  • Work collaboratively with facilities, marketing and food service on activity planning.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff throughout the college to promote student engagement.
  • Participate in off campus events, and build and maintain community partnerships.
  • Ensure students and other visitors feel properly welcomed.
  • Supervise assigned work study students.

Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are a requirement. An example of this would be an earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with two years of related experience with student activities in a higher education setting.
  • Skill in building relationships with students
  • Skill in oral and written communications
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within and across teams, and be self-motivated
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, learning management systems, social media platforms, software applications and other digital tools

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

 
Physical Demands:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds to move objects.

Work Hours:
Hours will vary, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening availability is required for student activities, special events and orientations.
