Newberry College in Newberry, SC, is seeking a new Director of Financial Aid. Our vision is to prepare students in the Lutheran liberal arts tradition through our supportive academic community for lifelong intellectual and personal development, meaningful vocation, and engaged citizenship in the global society.

Position Duties
Provide leadership, accountability, and daily management of the Financial Aid Office. Create and maintain a positive attitude of quality customer service to students, families, and campus partners. Maintain regulatory compliance and protect the integrity of the financial aid services of the College. Reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid is a senior member of the EM leadership team and must be a visionary about how the college communicates with their constituencies related to financial aid. The Director of Financial Aid will coordinate the day-to-day operations with the Associate Director of Financial Aid and over see the talent identification, on-boarding and professional development of the Financial Aid Staff.

Duties to Include but Limited to:

  • Oversee full-service financial aid processing, including document collection, budgeting,

  • awarding, FAFSA verification, and loan certification for college related programs.

  • Monitor student Satisfactory Academic Progress for all students.

  • Review financial aid eligibility for students and allocate funds to students accordingly. Provide leadership and direction around processes related to the disbursement of funds.

  • Review return of title IV calculations.

  • Demonstrate attitude of quality "customer service" to students and families.

  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state and institutional policies and procedures regulating student aid.

  • Bring forward innovative ideas to help educate families about the financial aid process

  • Manage processes to allow for efficient and accurate processing of financial aid.

  • Complete annual, quarterly, and monthly audits and reconciliations.

  • Maintain compliance with all regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree is preferred

  • 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, higher education, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to prioritize projects in a high-volume and timeline-driven process.

  • Knowledge of Financial aid demographics, marketing strategies, communications, and Financial Aid Office operational functions.

  • Supervisory and office management skills.

  • Strong communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team in a collaborative decision-making environment.

  • Experience in budget planning and monitoring.

  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and perform a variety of projects and assignments simultaneously and in a timely manner.

  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally.

  • Additional Information

  • This position requires a background screen. We reserve the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of a background screen

  • This is a regular, full-time, exempt position reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Management

  • Evening, travel and occasional weekend hours are expected.
