Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Office of External Relations, Marketing and Communications, in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, University of Maryland is seeking a Multimedia Coordinator to support the implementation of the team’s strategic plan. The Coordinator plays an integral role in college-wide initiatives to strengthen and advance the College’s identity and reputation; promote and maintain a favorable perception among the School’s general, academic, industry, and government audiences; and achieve the College’s recruitment and partnership goals.

The Multimedia Coordinator is responsible for visualizing and promoting the many accomplishments and success stories within the College of Behavioral & Social Sciences through creative skills in videography, photography and motion graphics. The Coordinator will develop stunning and clearly communicated video pieces, engaging photography, and graphics depicting the advances being made inside and outside the classroom, and throughout our robust alumni community. In addition, the Coordinator will meet independently and work collaboratively with college faculty, staff, and stakeholders to conceptualize, create, translate high-level concepts into digestible video content, and post content to different social media outlets and online platforms.

The Multimedia Coordinator works closely with the Director of Creative Services to ensure all visuals produced through the BSOS Multimedia Studio follow university and college brand guidelines, and help support the university’s strategic plan.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, public relations, or a related field.

Experience:
  • 2 years related professional experience.
  • Experience with video and audio recording equipment, DSLR cameras, and lighting techniques.
  • Experience with basic photography principles and how they apply to videography.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interviewing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro video editing software and experience with Adobe After Effects. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Mac OS.
  • Practiced organization and communication skills including the ability to multitask and manage multiple jobs at a time, to organize physical and digital files and develop archival methods based on best practices, and to work as a team as well as independently.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Familiarity with creating website or social media content related to the behavioral and social sciences.
  • Experience working in higher education and/or developing multimedia content for higher ed audiences.
