Franklin Pierce University invites nominations and applications for the positions of the Dean of the College of Business.

Franklin Pierce encompasses a far-reaching geographic and virtual network, educating a diverse population of residential undergraduates, online learners, and full-time graduate students through our campus in Rindge, NH, online and at our centers in Manchester, Portsmouth, and Lebanon, (NH) and Goodyear, AZ.
As a diversified institution, Franklin Pierce has avoided the perils of the Northeast region experiencing stable enrollments and revenue surpluses over the last five years. These successes are contributed to embracing our own evolution through innovation.
Most recently, the Board of Trustees demonstrated the institution's innovative nature by unanimously approving the reorganization of the Division of Academic Affairs. In doing so, the opportunity for three new deans was created. This is an exciting time at Franklin Pierce, as the university embarks on expanding its operations at our Goodyear, AZ campus, developing new programming in Healthcare fields, and our continued quest to explore new educational models and programs that build on our legacy of excellence that help students expand their knowledge, direct their passions, and graduate as qualified, engaged leaders.
College of Business
The College of Business was established in 2017 and consists of both undergraduate and graduate programming. The degrees offered include: Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, Management, Marketing, and Sport and Recreation, as well as, a MS in Accounting and a MBA with multiple concentrations. The administration for the College occurs in Rindge, NH in its newly renovated space.
Our other new colleges are the College of Health and Natural Sciences and the College of Justice and Society.
These colleges are designed to support the academic and student life, which play a vital role in Franklin Pierce's undergraduate programs and institutional ethos; we provide extensive opportunities for students to compete, excel, and lead shaping well-rounded individuals who understand the value of service and community engagement. Our students excel in the classroom, intern at Fortune 500 companies, present at professional conferences, compete as NCAA Division II athletes, and engage in meaningful community service. Our entire university is dedicated to providing students with resources, support, and a sense of connection outside the classroom and within our local, regional, and national communities.
Under the direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the selected individual will:
be responsible as the College Dean for the development of a strategic vision for comprehensive academic planning and programming, retention initiatives, and policy development as it pertains to the college as well as the university,
provide advocacy for, leadership to and has managerial responsibility for the programs, and faculty within the College,
manage operating and restricted budgets within the College utilizing the financial and material resources effectively and efficiently,
work closely with the Provost, Executive Dean for Assessment and Academic Affairs, and staff of the Office of Academic Affairs to provide leadership and administrative support for the maintenance of programmatic quality and the development of initiatives that enhance and promote academic programming,
ensure that effective program planning and assessment is carried out to accomplish the goals and objectives of the College's & University's Assessment Plans in order to meet accreditation standards of NECHE or program-specific accrediting bodies,
serve on appropriate University committees, task forces, and search committees, as well as other roles as requested and will serve as a representative of the University administration to the faculty and staff of their unit of the University, as well as to the community, and
is also expected to foster collaboration among the University constituencies, including Enrollment Management, Office of Student Life and the Office of Advancement to support fundraising cultivation. The Dean will participate in College's student recruitment and supervise advising and retention efforts.
Experience and Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will:
hold a doctoral degree in a field related to those offered in the respective college,
have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in academic affairs administration (department chair or above) along with an understanding of current issues, such as, retention, shared governance, community outreach and program development,
be comfortable with compiling and analyzing data and preparing reports and using data to drive decisions,
will demonstrate a good sense of humor, self-confidence, communication skills, and passion for student success and academic development will complement the leadership team at Franklin Pierce.
