Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position works to strengthen and advance the identity, branding, communication, and reputation of the Procurement and Business Services departments. This position will contribute to the development of key initiatives, collaborate with the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer’s Communications expert to develop a consistent communications strategy, work with subject matter experts in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing and Business Services to draw upon their expertise in the development of communications and training materials for campus. The individual in this role will have responsibility for outreach and collaboration, development of communications, messaging, training materials for use by Procurement and Business Services. Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships focusing on internal customers and at times including supplier partners, and other internal/external stakeholders will be one aspect of the work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in the areas of communications, marketing, branding, training development and outreach.
  • Experience in elevating exposure of positive process improvements and accomplishments of the department and staff with the intention of reputational improvement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, change management practices, and techniques needed for large, complex projects.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a key client list on complex projects.
  • Skill in interpreting complex regulations and policies into an understandable format for non-experts.
  • Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and to take initiative in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse population.
  • Ability to excite people about process changes that may lead to changes in individual, departmental, and institutional behaviors in support of the desired outcomes of the institution.
  • Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the programs and services offered by Procurement and Business Services.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including meeting facilitation and decision making with the ability to deliver quality presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to manage multiple concurrent tasks, priorities, an responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of training and communication delivery methods and collateral options for providing training and communications to a large, diverse community with varied interests and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate and deliver feedback to individuals at all levels of the organization for action.
  • Skill in developing and carrying out strategic communications plans.
  • Understanding of communications and marketing metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrated experience and use of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio or similar flow chart tool).

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (85%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (15%).
