Colorado Mountain College (CMC) is a local district college with 11 campus locations spanning 12,000 square miles of the picturesque central Rockies. Colorado Mountain College is located in Steamboat Springs, Rifle, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs (downtown), Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, Aspen, the Vail Valley, Dillon, Breckenridge, Leadville and Buena Vista. Of these locations, our three campuses in Spring Valley, Leadville and Steamboat Springs are residential. The college’s Central Services administrative offices, which serve all other locations, are located in downtown Glenwood Springs.

Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Glenwood Springs sits at the confluence of the Colorado and Roaring Fork rivers. Originally inhabited by nomadic Ute Indian tribes, Glenwood Springs became fueled by tourism, coal mining, farming and ranching, commerce and outdoor recreation. Today, Glenwood Springs is the county seat and most populous city of Garfield County, Colorado. Glenwood Springs is home to the Colorado Mountain College Central Services Administrative team.

The Position

The School Dean provides instructional leadership and administration to the School programming areas of the College. This Academic Affairs position reports directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, collaborates with campus academic supervisors and faculty on curriculum consistency and instructional integrity among all campuses.  The School Dean collaboratively assists with all areas of the college to facilitate student academic success.

Responsibilities include collaborative planning, staffing, developing, promoting and assessing programming and related services to support a positive learning environment, and ensure consistency of practice within the disciplines across the College. School Deans may handle program planning and directing. The School Dean supervises full-time faculty within School disciplines in matters related to academic integrity, curriculum, academic, assessment, academic consistency, and accordingly assists adjunct faculty and support staff, as appropriate, at multiple locations in collaboration with campus academic leads.

This position is part of a new reporting structure within the College; the ability to facilitate change, demonstrating flexibility and positive leadership essential.

Travel throughout the CMC district will be required.

Prerequisites for Position (Qualifications Standards):

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position, such as a Master’s Degree in a discipline relative to the programs within the school.  Terminal degree preferred. A minimum of two years teaching experience in higher education and two years academic administrative experience preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally competent environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, and community members having diverse backgrounds.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
