Position Summary:
 
Under the supervision of the Director of the Perinatal Research Lab this position will be responsible: 1. Growing and maintaining cell cultures for research studies 2. Perform assays as well as preparing solutions and media. 3. Assist with laboratory maintenance, cleaning, ordering of supplies and inventories of supplies, cell stocks, and the proper disposal of hazardous waste. 4. Assist postdoctoral fellows or research scientists with performing experiments. 5. Assist data analysis using computer software, and preparation for presentation and publication.

$21.26 - $25.00 (Hourly Rate)
 
 
Required:
 
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. 1 year + prior lab bench work experience desired.
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate easily and effectively with people. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to exercise judgment, tact, and professionalism in. Theoretical knowledge of molecular biology and cell biology Demonstrated proficiency using software, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint for word-processing and statistical software. Ability to use standard lab equipment Working knowledge of monitoring laboratory safety, including radioactive biohazard handling, and disposing techniques Experience with handling tissue cultures Ability to follow complex protocols Organization skills and oversight of supplies inventory
 
Preferred:
 
Working knowledge of UCI forms, policies, procedures, and KFS (Kuali Financial System).
 
Special Conditions Required:
 
Working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; dependent on coverage needs and subject to change.
