Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The position is an intermediate supervisory position, assisting with management of the Evening Housekeeping program, and taking full responsibility for community operations in the absence of the area supervisor. In addition, the position will be assigned responsibility for completion of the full range of housekeeping tasks and projects. The position’s daily work shift will be 12:00 midnight to 8:30 AM and will include weekend work

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:
Four years in housekeeping in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of the procedures, equipment and supplies used in housekeeping.
  • Skill in the use and maintenance of housekeeping tools and equipment; in the selection and application of housekeeping chemicals and supplies; in providing guidance and training to others; in overseeing a large housekeeping unit; in selecting applicants for employment.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of assigned housekeeping personnel; to estimate supply and equipment needs; to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaningsolutions; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to lift and transport supplies and refuse; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.

Experience working in an a University, or recreational facility of similar size and scope.

Additional Certifications:

Must possess and maintain a drivers license valid in the State of Maryland with fewer than six (6) points.

Physical Demands

Employee will be required to perform the full range of housekeeping duties, requiring walking of stairs, lifting materials and equipment weighing up to 40 lbs., operating floor machines, moving furniture, etc. Employee will be required to use chemicals and disinfectants in the course of his/her daily job duties. Employee may need to work from a lift. In addition employee will be required to drive a state vehicle.
