Job Summary

The Financial Aid Clerk is responsible for assisting in various processes and phases of financial aid at the front counter of the Financial Aid Office and in the Veterans Affairs office.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

One year of clerical and general office experience

Computer literacy to include experience with Microsoft Word and data entry

Excellent customer service skills

Knowledge of general office equipment to include fax, scanner, copier, and multi-line telephone

Excellent communication and public relations skills

Ability to manage a large volume work flow with minimal supervision

Must be detail oriented and highly self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a college setting, preferably in financial aid

Experience with veteran certification process

Familiar with matriculation process in higher education

Experience working with an online database

Ability to understand and apply regulations regarding financial aid and VA eligibility

Essential Functions

Advise students on VA benefits

Assist students as a front counter representative by providing accurate information and accurate answers to requests in person or on the phone

Become knowledgeable in the rules and regulations for determining VA eligibility

Assist in registration process

Image documents

Work as a team player to accomplish other duties as assigned

Update student data files; data entry

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift or move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds

Must be able to work extended hours during periods of registration and Midland College or community events

Work mostly performed indoors, some outdoor Midland College or community events may be required, including weekends

Work both on campus and off campus

Travel for training, meetings and events both in and out of town may be required

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

Must be able to communicate effectively

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time

Min Salary 10.25 per hour
Max Salary 10.25 per hour
