The College of Engineering has a great opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Associate to work at the Coral Gables Campus.

The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                           

Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                        

Education:

MD or Ph.D. in Industrial/Systems, Electrical, or Computer Engineering

Certification and Licensing:

Not Applicable

Experience:

Experience in working with Energy Systems and Analytics.

Expert in Python Programming

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

All in-Person (no remote work is allowed)

- Writing research papers and articles for publication in academic journals and industry publications.

- Conducting data analysis and modeling to help us better understand energy consumption patterns and identify opportunities for improvement.

- Writing reports and presenting findings to our team and external stakeholders.

- Supervising undergrad and grad students in the DOE Industrial Assessment Center

- Participating in energy assessments of buildings and facilities to identify areas where energy efficiency can be improved (Total of 20 per year).

- Traveling to different locations in Florida to gather data and conduct field work.

- Teaching and mentoring students on energy analytics and efficiency, if needed (extra payment).

- Collaborating with a team of researchers, engineers, and industry experts to develop innovative solutions to energy challenges.

- Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in energy analytics and efficiency research and technology. - Assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and other funding applications.

- Contributing to the overall research and development goals of the Dept of Industrial and Systems Engineering and the College of Engineering.
