Full Job Description

Lift For Life Academy, the first Charter school in St. Louis is seeking a Marketing & Volunteer Manager. This position is responsible for all Marketing activities including staff support to the Marketing Committee, managing the Volunteer Program, and working on Special Events in support of fundraising and development activities.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to Executive Director, with close working relationships with the Development consultant, members of the External Relations team and LFLA’s administration.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing:

  • Manage content creation for newsletter (three times annually), direct mail campaigns and e-news updates (monthly) in coordination with Development team
  • Maintain timelines for staff and student writers, setting up on-and-off campus interviews and writing/editing stories
  • Secure quotes for all department printing
  • Take photos at on-campus school events (off-campus if mutually agreed upon ahead of time) and manage department photo database
  • Manage the website - including updating main page design, keeping blog articles up to date, making staff changes, updating calendar under instruction from Deputy Director, keeping event pages up and running for payment/display, and other changes as assigned
  • Create special marketing materials/school displays as assigned (award banners, award plaques, display signs for events, posters, banners, etc.)
  • Assist with volunteer and donor thank you letters as needed
  • Maintain a web presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - including flagging important issues that arise and reporting to administration
  • Work in coordination with External Relations Director to generate communications to keep volunteers informed and engaged, ex. Letters of appreciation, bi-annual newsletter, emails, etc.
  • Ensure brand standards are maintained and followed at all times

Volunteer Coordination

Coordination of Volunteer Opportunities

  • Identify needs within departments and share with Executive Director, Development team as well as Deputy Director.
  • Develop group and one-time/episodic volunteer activities.
  • Create volunteer job descriptions based on job position.
  • Recruitment
  • Recruit for open positions by attending and participating in professional and community meetings, volunteer fairs, etc.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with corporate volunteer groups, civic groups and other prospects and enter information into donor/volunteer database as appropriate.
  • Create successful college partnerships, post ads for volunteer opportunities on college/university websites.
  • Expand opportunities for family volunteerism for parents.

Intake and Training

  • Interview, screen and refer volunteers to HR for background checks to be completed.
  • Arrange for volunteer, on-the-job and other required training, supervision and evaluation of volunteers.
  • Prepare and maintain volunteer procedural and training manuals.

Recognition

  • Identify key volunteers for recognition/cultivation by CEO, Board, etc.

Evaluation/Assessment

  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of volunteer resources by surveying both volunteer and teacher.
  • Recommend necessary changes or adjustments to the volunteer program as needed.

Special Events:

  • Assist with all special events, with focus on the annual signature Fashion Show fundraising event, working closely with the Development Manager.
  • Responsible for invitations, Save the Date cards, signage, and all collateral materials.
  • Schedule and coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation event/luncheon.
  • Attend bi-monthly development team meetings as well as bi-monthly meetings with supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years related experience in a nonprofit organization
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Marketing and Advancement experience
  • Experience in having expanded and cultivated relationships over time
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently, but also a team player
  • Essential to have the energy and passion for Lift For Life Academy’s mission
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse team
