The Associate Scientist in the Thrombosis will perform scientific experiments; have an in-depth technical and theoretical knowledge and expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, and animal model study.

Responsibilities include: Responsible for independently performing a wide range of research functions based on agreed protocols and objectives.  The candidate will study the function of members of the protein disulfide isomerase family of enzymes in platelets. The methods to be used include tissue culture, molecular and cell biology procedures, flow cytometry, and in vivo experiments in various mouse models. Perform literary research and participating in the development of research protocols. The Associate scientist will be performing experiments with minimal guidance; contributing to optimizing and trouble-shooting experiments; completing experiments with efficiency of time and resources; designing experiments with proper controls; analyzing and interpreting experimental data; and conducting various measurements and analysis consistent with research protocol. Associate Scientist will also be performing genotyping, ELISA, PCR, and Cell Culture; preparing solutions, reagents, and media; performing routine duties maintaining the health and integrity of the animal colony. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience: Ph.D. or M.D. and at least four years of Postdoctoral experience.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Demonstrated ability in performing ELISA, PCR, and Western blotting.
*Experience working with mice
*Ability to keep accurate records of research performed on NIH standards.
*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS Office Suite.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to work both independently and within a group.
*Demonstrated organizational skills, along with the ability to meet deadlines and be detail oriented.
*Ability to adjust to changing priorities and schedules.
*Must be able to operate all standard office and laboratory equipment.
*Willingness to learn new methodologies.
