Summary

The psychologist will be a full-time faculty member of the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) with a primary appointment (100% FTE) in the Section of Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics and will be based in the Section of Adolescent Medicine and Sports Medicine. The faculty member will receive administrative direction from the Chiefs of the Section of Adolescent Medicine and Sports Medicine and the Section of Psychology.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

(85% clinical; 15% administrative and teaching). Clinically, the faculty member will evaluate and treat adolescents, and their families and supervise practicum students. Clinical responsibilities include providing evidence-based therapy (individual, family, and group) to pre-adolescents, adolescents, and young adults who range in age from 10 - 24 years. The clinical sites includes:

  • Texas Children's Hospital Adolescent Inpatient Unit
  • Texas Children's Hospital Adolescent Outpatient Clinic
  • Covenant House Texas, a crisis shelter for young adults. Services are provided to patients who present with diagnoses such as eating disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, mild substance use/abuse, school problems, medication adherence, and family conflict.

Job Duties

The Faculty member will:

  • Approve and support all clinical and education training for psychology trainees
  • Participate in planning and delivering didactic and case-based learning to medical (residents, fellow) and psychological trainees (practicum students)
  • Provide mental health services on TCH Adolescent Unit and in the TCH Adolescent Clinic
  • Actively collaborate with an inter-professional team including medicine, nutrition, nursing, physical therapy.
  • Provide mental health care at Covenant House Texas (one-half day/week)
  • Participate in the development of the TCH Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. and internship in Clinical or Counseling Psychology in APA accredited programs, APA-accredited internship, and at least one-year post-doctoral training. Two years of faculty experience are preferred.

  • At least one-year of clinical experience in providing services to adolescents with eating disorders and related conditions and with a range of common adolescent mental health problems, in an interdisciplinary setting
  • At least one-year of experience in supervising psychology graduate students, interns, or postdoctoral students in the evaluation and treatment of adolescents and their families

 

Licensing:

Must be licensed or license-eligible in Texas and be able to obtain licensing by the end of one year. If you are not currently licensed, please provide a statement of your timeline and accomplishments toward licensure to date (e.g., passed/anticipated date of the EPPP, passed a state jurisprudence exam).
