Associate or Assistant Professor - Virology

Job Description

Summary

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School (https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/microbiology-immunology) is excited to welcome applications for a tenure-track or tenured appointment at Assistant or Associate Professor level. Our ideal candidate will have a research program broadly related to virology and will be comfortable teaching virology at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Current areas of focus in the department include microbial pathogenesis, with expertise in bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic pathogens, and microbiome influences on health and disease. There is also strong expertise in both innate and adaptive immunity. The department is home to two NIH T32 training grants and has a strong teaching focus that spans graduate (PhD, MS, medical and dental students) and undergraduate instruction.

Required Qualifications*

Interested applicants are required to hold a PhD prior the appointment.  Applicants must demonstrate evidence of excellence in both teaching and research.

This position may be filled at either Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Rank is determined on qualifications.

Background Screening
