The Department of Biology at the University of Virginia is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Xiaorong Liu.  The individual will join a well-established research program aimed at studying retinal diseases in animal models and clinical research.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires that the candidate has completed a Ph.D. within the last two years in neuroscience or a closely related field by the appointment start date.  The candidate must have 1-2 years prior training and experience in retinal biology, retinal disease studies as evidenced in the applicant's published works.

Anticipated responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

o   Ability to perform mouse eye surgery and brain surgery.

o   Ability to perform routine molecular biological experiments.

o   Prior experience with retinal disease studies highly desirable.

o   Ability to provide supervision and training for graduate and undergraduate researchers.
