Texas Children's began its expansion into Austin in March 2018 with the opening of Texas Children's Urgent Care Westgate, and now includes 18 Texas Children's Pediatrics locations, as well as outpatient specialty care and maternal fetal medicine practices.  Our new hospital, under construction at 9835 North Lake Creek Parkway, will join our comprehensive and growing suite of pediatric, urgent care and specialty care services around the city in February 2024.

 

About the Division of Psychology

The Division of Psychology within the Department of Pediatrics includes more than 40 pediatric, clinical, and neuropsychologists practicing across subspecialty areas at Texas Children's Hospital, providing care in both inpatient and outpatient environments. BCM, our academic home, is also home to outstanding psychology training programs at the graduate, internship, and postdoctoral levels.

Summary

The Psychology Division in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is recruiting a Pediatric Psychologist to join our Psychology Division and support the growth of Texas Children's Hospital in Austin, Texas. This psychologist will join our growing team of more than 45 psychologists who currently practice throughout the Houston area, and 2-3 psychologists who will be practicing in Austin. This is a faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank, with a strong clinical focus.  In addition to patient care, all faculty members are expected to contribute to the College's academic mission.  Both independent and collaborative research/scholarship opportunities are available through partnership with other Division members, as well as colleagues across the system.


Job Duties

The pediatric psychologist will provide evaluation and intervention services for children and adolescents presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Referring medical subspecialty partners include Gastroenterology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, and Hematology/Oncology among others. Common reasons for referral include adjustment to chronic condition/medical diagnosis, adherence/self-management behavior, and management of pain and other physical symptoms to promote function.


Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be graduates of an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical, school, or counseling psychology, must have completed an APA-accredited internship, must have postdoctoral experience in child/adolescent psychology and pediatric psychology experience, and must be eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in Texas.
