Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
East Stroudsburg University seeks a student-centered, experienced, visionary leader for the position of Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences who will advance the goals of the College and University through innovation and collaboration.
The Dean reports directly to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs and is responsible for providing leadership and vision in strategic planning and implementation of programs within the College of Arts and Sciences. The College consists of 14 departments: Art + Design; Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Communication; Computer Science; English; History & Geography; Mathematics; Modern Language, Philosophy, and Religious Studies; Physics; Political Science & Economics; Psychology; Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice; and Theatre.
As the principal spokesperson and advocate for the College, the Dean formulates and implements policies and strategic plans; develops and reviews curricula and programs; and manages the human, financial and physical resources of the College. The Dean facilitates collaboration and transparent communication between the College and all University constituents in support of program development, and effective problem solving and decision making. The Dean also supports faculty in innovation, risk-taking, professional development, and scholarship.
Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibly to work in the U.S. at the time of employment. Reimbursement for interview and relocation expenses are not available for this position.
Candidates possessing a doctoral degree in a field relevant to one or more of the departments within the college.
Evidence of effective and creative leadership, management and administrative experience as a department chair or program director, along with a demonstrated commitment to diversity is required.
Additionally, familiarity with and commitment to accreditation and assessment of student learning outcomes.
As well as a strong record of teaching, research, and service are preferred.
