Job Description
The purpose of this position is to plan and implement an effective supplemental and developmental instruction program for the Comet Learning Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Assist in planning and implementing a customized training program for tutors.
- Actively recruit students to participate in supplemental instruction.
- Guide students in establishing specific learning goals.
- Develop multiple measures of student readiness in English and other areas.
- Administer, score and interpret assessments.
- Assist in the creation of competency-based workshops, classes and tutoring sessions for students, faculty and staff in the Comet Learning Center.
- Facilitate workshops, classes and tutoring sessions as assigned.
- Track students’ progress through courses and ensure course standards are met.
- Initiate and provide individualized instruction for students in specific content areas.
- Coordinate with academics to ensure student transition to college-level course work.
- Report activities and progress of the supplemental instruction program.
- Collect student demographic data for program service evaluation.
- Supervise, orient, evaluate and train staff.
- Use excellent communication and human relation skills.
- Use database applications to create and manage files and communicate and interpret information maintaining confidentiality.
- Advance and advocate a campus climate that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Perform other related duties as required.
This position will be responsible for teaching one section of COM 723, Workplace Communications each term with the opportunity to teach additional sections if requested. This person will also be responsible for teaching ACT prep courses throughout the year by schedule.
This is a full time, grade 6, position with an annual salary of $46,166. Benefits include health, dental, long-term disability and group life insurance; retirement, tuition waiver; paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Experience in English related field.
- Bilingual proficiency a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.

- Master’s degree in English or related field
- Classroom experience
- Previous work with international students
- Work with Canvas shells
- Work with ACT preparations
- Technologically savvy
