Job Summary
Responsibilities
Conduct investigations independently, as primary investigator, of complaints made against faculty, other academic appointees, and postdoctoral researchers alleging discrimination, harassment, or sexual misconduct, and as needed, those against staff (in partnership with Employee and Labor Relations), under the University’s non-discrimination and harassment policies in compliance with federal, state, and local non-discrimination laws (e.g. , Title VI, Title VII, Title IX).
Coordinate hearings of the Panel on Unlawful Harassment or Title IX Hearing Panel pursuant to the University’s non-discrimination and harassment policies.
Facilitates and assists in development of alternative resolution process options available under the University’s non-discrimination and harassment policies (as secondary facilitator), which include alternative resolution (for allegations against students), and additional process options as developed.
Provides confidential counseling and expertise independently to those who feel they have experienced unlawful treatment based on University programs and activities.
Conducts, and assist in developing training for members of the campus community on the University’s non-discrimination and harassment policies and relevant process options, and conflict resolution, in partnership with other members of UChicago CARES.
Assist in developing and conducting training for alternative resolution facilitators, Title IX Personnel, and members of the hearing panels, in partnership with UChicago CARES and other campus partners.
Collect and maintain data on resolution of complaints made against faculty, other academic appointees and postdoctoral researchers under the University’s non-discrimination and harassment policies, and assist the Director in any related annual reporting, which may include analyzing and presenting data to leaders and assisting in developing strategy to improve outcomes.
Supports the Director in annual assessment of use and best practices related to resolution practices, and in related annual compliance reporting (e.g. , Annual Safety and Security Report, Illinois Prevention Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act Annual Report, Panel on Unlawful Harassment annual report to the Council of the University Senate, and United Educators quarterly compliance reporting, etc.).
Supports the Director in the development of content and materials related to resolution process options under the policies, including website content, one-page resource guides, process workflows, and other multi-media efforts to increase awareness and understanding of resolution options.
Design and implement projects related to matters under the related University policies and processes, and work on cross functional teams to advance the development of University policies, processes, and resolution options.
Analyze changes to Title IX, Title VII, or other related federal or state regulations related to non-discrimination, as it relates to University policy and procedure. Present changes to teams and assist with developing strategy.
Coordinates and monitors department or clinic compliance with minimal guidance.
Plans and executes internal and external audits and activities to support regulatory agency inspections with minimal guidance.
Proactively prepares, completes and submits all compliance documentation on a routine basis. Coordinates compliance committee meetings.
Has a deep understanding to develop and administer policies related to affirmative action, non-discriminatory practices for persons with disabilities, and unlawful harassment or sexual misconduct.
May provide confidential counseling and expertise to those who feel they have experienced unlawful treatment based on University programs and activities.

5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
