The Department of Physics - Experimental X-ray Astrophysics Team at the University of Miami is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the group. The successful applicant will be working on the development of future instruments using Lobster-eye optics and CCD detectors for wide-field X-ray telescopes. The candidate will also have the opportunity of contributing to the other projects of the group, including the analysis for the DXL sounding rocket mission data, the science development for the Line Emission Mapper Probe, and data analysis from XMM-Newton and eROSITA.

Candidates with an interest in hardware and instrumentation are particularly encouraged to apply. Specific expertise in X-ray optics is welcome, but not required. 

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, list of publications, a brief description of past research and interests, and at least three letters of reference.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works and collaborates on studies related to field of study. 

• Ensures the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research and/or development in collaboration with a research team.  

• Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products.  

• Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.  

• Contributes to scientific literature and conferences, when appropriate.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written.  

• Must be detail oriented.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

• Doctoral degree or equivalent in their specialty.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

• No work experience is required.
