The Silveira lab is searching for a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Biology at the University of Miami (Miami, FL). The Silveira Lab studies bacteriophage-bacteria interactions in aquatic environments and animal-associated microbiomes. The Postdoctoral Associate will investigate phage-bacteria interactions in South Florida ecosystems, like coral reefs, Sargassum blooms, and the Everglades. Specifically, the postdoctoral associate will conduct field sampling and laboratory experiments to understand the ecological drivers and outcomes of different phage infection strategies. The investigation will have a strong genomics component and t postdoctoral associate should have a background in bioinformatics.

The Postdoctoral Associate will receive training in microbial multi-omics and bioinformatics and will have the opportunity to develop skills in grant writing, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and writing papers as lead and co-author. Please refer to www.silveiralab.com  for more information about our research.
